Michael studied law at Heinrich Heine University in Duesseldorf. He received his LL.M. from the University of Miami School of Law as a Fulbright scholar. After serving his legal traineeship (Referendariat), inter alia, in the State Aid Department of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Loschelder Rechtsanwälte, Michael first worked for TaylorWessing in the Competition, EU & Trade department and then for Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in German and European antitrust law and investment control from 2012. There, he also built up advice on state aid law. Since 2022, Michael has been Senior Legal Counsel for E.ON SE and is active in the areas of antitrust law, investment control and compliance. At E.ON, he also built up the state aid law advice.

He has been a lecturer for European Law at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf since 2009. Michael is a member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V., the Netzwerk Compliance, the Liquid Legal Institute and the Inhouse Competition Lawyers’ Association. He is co-author of the Frankfurt Commentary on Antitrust Law. Michael serves as honorary CFO of Fulbright Alumni e.V.
